Disturbingly Powerful Reasons Why You Should Build A List And Create An Asset

Recently I had a subscriber who belongs to my list ask me a question. Why should they bother building a list if they did not have any products to sell.

Now this was a very profound question and it had a lot of meaning for me. I remember some time ago I was reliant on search engine traffic alone for my business. I had two nightmarish months where all my rankings fell and I nearly went out of business. It was at this stage I decided that I was going to build my business the right way.

You see all the gurus focus on building lists. Once they have spent money advertising their websites they have a big responsive list. What would you honestly prefer a one time sale or many repeat sales from happy customers? If I had started building a responsive list if my search engine rankings fell I would basically email my list and continue making money. There would be no problem at all.

In fact I would go as far to say your only focus should be lead generation. Let us look at an example. Say your website makes $2000 a month and you spend $1000 advertising it. Now your income is never going to grow unless you build a list. I remember an example of two entrepreneurs who got started online. At the end of the year one was making $8000 a month while the other could not make more than $2000. The reason for this is that the first guy was building a list.

If for example you spend money advertising and you get 400 subscribers a month. Experts usually say you can earn $1 for every subscriber. Now after 12 months you will have 4800 subscribers and be making $4800 a month.
